IntroductionThe Brompton is a bike which rides superbly, is safe, agile and fast, yet folds easily and quickly into a highly-compact and portable package. The result is a vehicle that increases your sense of freedom and independence. Finely-engineered and elegant, the Brompton has a full-sized frame, made mainly of steel for strength and stiffness. It is designed to be practical and light enough to be genuinely portable; actual weight depends on model and configuration, but ranges from 9 – 12½ kg (20 – 28lbs). NB: Brompton weights include the weight of mudguards, pedals, etc. The combination of a rigid frame and accurate alignment makes for efficient transmission of your energy and a lively, first-rate ride; countless owners use them on long journeys and for touring and many prefer the ride of a Brompton to that of conventional bikes. The Brompton is an easy to use, versatile machine, fine for longer rides yet worth getting out even for the shortest of errands and it comes into its own in any number of situations:
There are three types of Brompton, with different handlebar styles designed for different styles of riding and use.
Brompton do not offer standard, every bike is built by hand from scratch. Bromptons are available with a number of options and come in a variety of colours which can be specified to order. For the many options and variations available please see the B-Spoke order form. You can use this to build your own personal specification and colours. Brompton have also created a key model to represent each type. The key models come kitted out, ready for the road, with mudguards and lighting fitted as standard. For those looking for weight savings, each of these key models can be built to a Superlight specification (with the suffix "-X"), with front forks, rear frame, seat pillar and other smaller features made out of titanium. The key models are shown below:
Bromptons can also be fitted with a number of luggage options and other accessories. Photos from Brompton Bicycle Website
